And just like that it’s over!

In November, we staged three sell-out performances of the family pantomime Pinocchio, our 25th pantomime. Feedback from the audience, both adults and children, has been fantastic, and once again, our set-build crew and stage technicians did a superb job making the show so magical. This year, included more local children who were amazing; we are so lucky to have so much talent in Fleckney. Thank you to all the support from their parents and to everyone who bought tickets for the show.

What’s next?
But as always, the Duckies don’t like to take it easy. On December 13th, we will be performing for the Kitten Club Christmas Party, another annual event in our calendar, and we are excited to announce that in May 2026, we will be performing a show which was the winner of 3 Oliver Awards, including Best Musical Revival, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’, presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International. More information and ticket release details are available on our website, FleckneyDuckpondPlayers.com. If you would like to be involved in this amazing musical, please get in touch with our secretary, Vicky, via the link on our website or just pop along on a Monday evening. We rehearse in the Village Hall from 7.30 pm to 10 pm.
Fundraising news!
Since January, we have been working in partnership with Fleckney Parish Council towards installing a community theatre in the proposed new building at Leicester Road recreation ground. In September, we were delighted to secure funding from Harborough District Council towards the build costs of this fantastic project. This development will provide an amazing opportunity for all types of performance events in the village. The larger auditorium with tiered seating means we will be able to offer seats to those who would typically join our waiting lists, as our shows often sell out quickly. For our audiences, the new venue will significantly enhance their theatre experience. For the Duckies, it means big changes after almost 28 years of performing in the village hall. We are excited that this new venue will allow us to stage even more amazing shows.
However the funding from HDC does not cover the full costs and when we move into the new theatre, we will also need to upgrade our sound and lighting equipment, which is why you may have noticed that we have been very active this year with fundraising events. In October, we held a well-supported quiz at the Golden Shield, and in November, we ran a BBQ at their firework display. These events will continue in 2026, with the first being a Charity Curry Night on Monday, 2nd February at 7 pm at the Cuisine of India on Kelmarsh Avenue, Wigston. We would love for you to join us! Tickets for the meal are £20 and are available on our website.
That’s all for now, folks. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
Quackers!
